A Fredericksburg Date Night Wine Tour: The Couples' Guide

By the Creekstreet Wine Tours team · October 18, 2026

Quick answerFor a true date night, book Creekstreet's Starlight Wine Tour: two wineries in the evening, a sit-down dinner in town and a 30-minute drive under a limo's starlight ceiling, 5:15pm to 9:30pm. It is listed at $250 per person for 3 to 8 guests, and couples can book it too: call for the price for two. If you would rather spend the afternoon together, Private Platinum Plus gives you your own vehicle and your own pick of 3 wineries.

Why Plan a Date Night Around Wine in Fredericksburg?

Fredericksburg is easy to love as a couple. Main Street is walkable, the wineries sit among live oaks and limestone, and the nights are dark enough outside town to see real stars. The hard part is that wine tasting and romance need the same thing: nobody watching the clock or the road.

That is the case for a guided tour on a date. You both taste, talk and look at the view, and nobody is the designated driver. Below: our two couples tours, what they cost, how to time them with the sun, and a two-day weekend plan.

Which Creekstreet Tour Is Best for a Couple?

There are two good answers, and they suit different dates.

The Starlight Wine Tour: an evening, not a day

The Starlight Wine Tour is the one we built for date night. We pick you up in the early evening, take you to two wineries with tasting fees paid, and then sit you down to dinner in town. Order any entrée up to $20, and we cover the tip.

After dinner comes the part couples remember: a 30-minute drive in a limo with a starlight ceiling. You are home by about 9:30pm.

Just the two of you? You can book it. For a couple it is the same evening: two wineries with tasting fees paid, a sit-down dinner in town, then the 30-minute starlight drive. Bring a bottle of wine or champagne for the ride. This is where the limo and all its lights really shine. The listed price is for 3 to 8 guests, so call us at (832) 247-0914 for the price for two.

Private Platinum Plus: a whole afternoon to yourselves

If your idea of romance is a long, unhurried afternoon, book Private Platinum Plus. The vehicle is yours alone. You pick 3 wineries from our list of 40+ (there are also 5 distilleries and 5 breweries on it), or you tell us what you like to drink and we choose.

It starts at $174 per person with a 4-ticket minimum. A couple can buy 4 tickets and keep the limo or Ford Expedition to themselves, so plan on a starting price of $696 for two before tax and gratuity. You also set the start time: start late and your last tasting lands in golden-hour light.

When Is Sunset, and Why Does It Matter?

The Starlight tour runs from 5:15pm to 9:30pm, but the sun does not keep the same schedule. Here is when it sets in Fredericksburg through the year:

DateSunsetLast light
Mid-Novemberabout 5:40pmabout 6:05pm
Mid-Decemberabout 5:37pmabout 6:02pm
Mid-Februaryabout 6:24pmabout 6:47pm
Mid-Aprilabout 8:05pmabout 8:29pm
Mid-Juneabout 8:41pmabout 9:07pm
Mid-Septemberabout 7:39pmabout 8:02pm

What that means for your date:

  • November through February: the sun goes down while you are at the wineries. This is the season for the classic sunset toast, and the star drive happens in full dark.
  • Spring and early fall: sunset lands around dinner. Ask for a table with a view, or plan to step outside between courses.
  • Summer: the sky is still bright until after 8:30pm, so the stars come out near the end of the evening.

If a sunset photo is the point of the trip, tell us when you call.

How Do You Plan a Proposal on a Wine Tour?

A private tour solves the hardest part of a proposal: a beautiful spot without a crowd. A few things help:

  1. Tell us when you book. We can plan the timing with you so the moment does not land in the middle of a tasting flight.
  2. Pick the light. Use the sunset table above. A proposal at a winery at golden hour is easiest from November to February on the Starlight tour, or on a late-start Private Platinum Plus the rest of the year.
  3. Think about the ring. Decide ahead of time where it rides, and tell us your plan when you book. On the Starlight drive you can bring your own bottle of champagne for afterward.
  4. Plan the photo. If you want a picture of the moment, say so when you book.

“No engagements on the Starlight tour yet, but several engagements on our wine tours!”

A few notes on Sunday. Enchanted Rock State Natural Area opens at 6:30am, and Texas Parks and Wildlife recommends reserving a day pass before you go, because the park closes when it fills up. Reservations open up to 30 days ahead. It is also an International Dark Sky Park, which is a good reason to stay a second night.

Closer to town, Cross Mountain Park sits on a hill 1,951 feet high on North Milam Street. The main trail takes 10 to 15 minutes to climb, the park is open dawn to dusk, and there is no fee.

Still choosing a place to stay? Our where to stay guide covers lodging around town. Pickup is free anywhere inside Fredericksburg city limits. If you are staying outside town, park free at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 302 E Austin St, and we will pick you up there.

What Should Couples Know Before Booking?

  • Age: everyone tasting must be 21 or older.
  • Payment: there is no deposit. We hold your seats with a card and take payment at the last stop.
  • Cancellations: cancel more than 48 hours ahead and we charge $60 per seat. Inside 48 hours, or a no-show, the full price applies.
  • Pacing: two or three tasting stops is plenty for one outing. Our guide to how many wineries you can visit in a day explains why.
  • The ride: our white stretch limos have a front “bridal door,” leather seats and the starlight ceiling. See them on our limo page.
